Hello!
Well first thank you so much for a lot of support that came my way this week <3. It all meant a lot, and I mean you, the thing you did, whether or not you told me you did it.
The news is that the trial is now scheduled for April 10. This is a relief, as February 27 was really too close to, like, “tomorrow.”
The other news is that being in court all day Monday was the worst it’s been. This had nothing to do with us and our situation. Our stuff always takes about 5 total minutes, but we all have to be in the courtroom all day long, and so we are there for whatever else is happening. On Monday, a plea was dealt with connected to a case that was horrific, and so the whole courtroom was suddenly and then for a long time listening to a statement of facts, an abuse survivor’s statement, and a parent’s statement, and the lawyers just turned themselves off because they know to, and the rest of us gripped each other’s hands and cried and didn’t breathe.
The other other news is there will now be a dedicated newsletter for defendants’ updates, starting now and going throughout the trial. It’s where we’ll share press as it comes out, and our own statements. It won’t be an inundation, except maybe during the trial? We’ll see! Anyway, it’s also on substack, already has all our previous updates from the website and instagram, and you can subscribe here.
Finally, do you miss my voice? Well, I was on a podcast. I haven’t listened and will not but I am told I sound like a person on a podcast! It’s called It Could Happen Here, I was part 1, our divine ACLU lawyer was part 2, and they are going to do a longer, in depth multiperson thing in coming time as well.
So anyway…I mean I will still share here about what this nutty experience is like for me as a person, but the other newsletter will be the all-legal-stuff-all-the-time one.
Love to y’all, and thanks for reading whatever of it all you read!
FYI You were never ever a problem child! Love you and I'm so proud of you.
I am just catching up here and whoa! Sarah- sending you and your community lots of love!
